The Way of Product with Caden Damiano

Had a great conversation with Caden about the twists and turns of career transitions—and how to navigate them in today’s relationship-driven job market.

We talked about why your network is your real safety net, why LinkedIn should be your master resume, and how to build thought leadership so opportunities start coming to you. Somewhere in the middle of our conversation, a lightbulb went off for me about interviews—and I think it’s critical for anyone in the job market right now: stop thinking of interviews as tests of you.

Sure, you need to cover the basics—your wins, your skills, how you’ve created value—but the bigger opportunity is to make the conversation about them. Show you understand what they do, the challenges they’re facing, and the priorities that keep them up at night.

Your goal isn’t to convince them you’re perfect. It’s to help them feel that you understand their world—and that you can make a difference in it. That’s how you shift from being just another candidate to being the solution they’ve been looking for.
